Can you help identify any of the unnamed soldiers in this photograph? These men would have been stationed at Bathurst at some point between 1941 and 1944 and served with my father, Ronald Norman Di Salvia, in the 2nd Australian Advanced Ordnance Corp. The family history buff in me would like to put some names to faces, but also share this photograph with descendants of these men.
Ronald Norman Di Salvia is on the far left, next to him is a man named Ernie ?, and beside him is Douglas Hampton Grisdale. I have just recently made contact with a descendant of Doug Grisdale, the man my brother Douglas Norman Di Salvia is named after, and I have been able to pass the photograph on to them.
Can anyone help identify what family these lovely young ladies belong to?
This beautiful photograph could possibly be girls from the same family. They appear very pretty. On the back of the picture is written:
Madeleine, Paule & Louise – taken by the Priest at the Sisters of Mercy, Sydney in a beautifully elegant handwriting. Going by the spelling of the girls Christian names and the fact that the Sisters of Mercy school was affiliated with Monte Sant Angelo, where some of our family from New Caledonia were educated, they could possibly be of French descent and may in that case also have links to New Caledonia.
This Beautiful family portrait sits in my Grandfather’s album. It has nothing written on the back to identify anyone in the photo, which I find really sad. I don’t know if the photo is of family members or just good friends of my grandparents.
If anyone can identify these people I would be most grateful to hear about it. Please leave me a message and I will get back to you.
